Scoliosis

Overview 

Spine that have a sideways curvature, occurs most often during the growth spurt just before puberty is called scoliosis. Most of the scoliosis conditions remained unknown whereas some are caused by conditions such as muscular dystrophy and cerebral palsy. About 3 percent of adolescents experience scoliosis. 

Causes

  • Neuromuscular conditions, such as cerebral palsy or muscular dystrophy

  • Birth defects affecting the development of the bones of the spine

  • Injuries or infections of the spine

When to see a chiropractor

As soon as you notice signs or symptoms of scoliosis. Some may not cause any pain but, it is best to seek advice from the Gonstead chiropractor to prevent any pain which might occur in the future.
